Weekly Review and Planning

Run a bounded weekly review and planning reset that audits commitments, stalled projects, and waiting items, then produces a next-week plan fitted to real calendar capacity.

How to use

Trigger it by asking for your weekly review, for example with prompts such as these; a cron tick for a scheduled weekly-review run also fires it.

Typical requests include checking what you committed to and what is slipping, planning next week from your calendar, tasks, and notes, or finding stale projects and waiting items.

Do not use it for daily briefs, which the google-workspace daily-brief reference covers, or for single-inbox triage, handled by email-inbox-triage.

This is a concrete recurring task scheduled as a cron job in the weekly-review Automation Blueprint, not a generic productivity methodology.

First confirm timezone, review period, planning horizon, the authoritative task/project store, calendars, inboxes, and allowed writes. Default to recommendations and drafts rather than mutations; finish when every source-of-truth conflict has a declared winner.

Review the task inbox, notes in obsidian or notion, flagged email (email-inbox-triage owns thread-level triage), and other declared capture points. Propose converting each item to next action, project, waiting, scheduled, someday, reference, archive, or delete, and do not mutate anything until scope is approved. Finish when remaining unprocessed items are counted and stated.

Find promises you made and items owed to you by others, proposing follow-ups with dates and channels. Do not infer that silence means completion; finish when each waiting item has an owner and a next review or follow-up date.

Estimate fixed calendar load and select a small set of weekly outcomes plus near-term next actions, ranked by consequence, deadline, dependency, and effort; do not fill every free hour. Finish when the plan fits actual capacity and names deferred work.

Only as approved, update tasks and projects, create calendar holds, archive processed items, and draft follow-ups, reading every changed record back from the provider. Finish when verified writes match the review summary.

Avoid planning from tasks without calendar capacity, carrying every unfinished item forward as high priority, marking projects active with no next action, silently deleting or rescheduling personal commitments, or treating silence from others as completion.
